We worship at the altar of Video

I would like to propose an experiment. Scroll down your facebook feed for a few seconds, and count how many of any given amount of posts are video. Of course, you’re not really going to do that just because a guy writing an article told you to. I haven’t even bought you dinner yet. So I did it for you. On my feed, sixteen from twenty-four posts are video. That’s a solid two thirds. Facebook actually recently added that new tab to only see video posts, like an in-facebook Youtube. That’s probably because they know that every day, 100 million hours of video are watched on facebook alone. That sounds made up, right? Like i’m exaggerating just to make a point. But no, that’s the actual number. Trust me. I’m the one writing the article, after all.

And of course, then there’s the actual Youtube, which is now basically a video google. You want to learn a new recipe? Look it up on Youtube. You need to change a tire? Look it up on Youtube. Wanna know more about the french revolution? How to put on a condom? Wanna see people popping huge zits? Look it. Up. On Youtube.

The age of internet is actually the age of video. We crave video. We consume it and pump it out religiously. Everyone’s getting in on it, and so should you.

If you’re a business owner, and you’re looking to spend some money to push your company forward, we have some news for you: video is no longer a luxury. You need to invest on video to forward your brand.

Heads up: couple data paragraphs coming your way…

According to unruly, enjoyment of video ads increase purchase intent by 97%, and brand association by 139%. If you do it right, of course. According to Retail Touchpoints, the Step2 Company found that shoppers who viewed video were 174% more likely to purchase than viewers who did not. Visitors who view product videos are 85% more likely to buy than visitors who do not, for crying out loud. Don’t you want YOUR customers to fit into these stats?

Videos just get stuck in our minds. The information retained in one minute of online video is equal to about 1.8 million written words. Viewers retain 95%--

You know what? Why am I even WRITING about this? I’ll just show you a video we made about it. See for yourself.
