Some of our projects
Answer me this: how does it make you feel when you're watching a video on youtube or facebook, and it pauses to show you an ad? If you're like me, then it probably drives you insane. I'm going to slip out of my usual professional tone to be very clear here. I hate it. It sucks. It makes me want to rip my eyes out just to deny them the satisfaction of having me watch the damn ad.
Now, if your reaction is similar to mine, maybe we should ask ourselves why we hate this so much. Well, my guess is that on one hand it's because we've been interrupted while watching video content that we actually do want to watch. And on the other hand, maybe we no longer tolerate normal sales pitches. I think that the boring old art of going "Hey, I've got this new blender, and you really want/ need it" is finally going to die. But oh no, if we can't make a video about how much people need our hot new blender, then how are we supposed to take advantage of this whole social media video mega trend if we can't make a video about how much people need our hot new blender?" Well, my friend, I'm sorry tell you this, but you need to make a cooking show. You need to get a great personality in front of the camera, and have them cook stuff (which often require the use of a blender). Maybe throw in a couple of jokes about using the blender to drown out their inner voice telling them they need to eat healthier. Throw in a link in the description where they can buy the blender and that's it.
You see, perhaps the greatest issue for brands with this massive video thing going on is that there is so much video, that it's kinda hard to make a lot of people watch it, without being very intrusive. And people just won't have it. So we have to do it the old-fashioned way: making videos that they want to watch on their own, and have your audience build itself slowly. And although this is harder to achieve, it comes with a great advantage. People who buy your blender won't be just customer you managed to convince to buy from you. They will be a community gravitating around you, they will have an emotional investment in your products, they will tell their friends and family how funny your cooking show is. And pretty soon, all these people will be complaining that someone interrupted your video with an ad. And then, the possibilities are endless.
